Montenegro will be represented by three athletes at the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing (4 February - 20 February 2022). Jelena Vujicic and Eldar Salihovic will compete in slalom and giant slalom, whiile Aleksandar Grbovic is scheduled to take part in a 15 kilometre cross-country skiing. "The three of them won their visas for Beijing, and we have the same number of competitors as four years ago in PyeongChang," said Rajko Kosic, Montenegrin Chef de Mission at the WOG. Our competitors began their preparations for Beijing in July, on the Austrian glacier Hintertux. They were also preparing in Italy and participated in a number of events where they collected valuable Olympic points. Grbovic trained and competed in Italy, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. "I am certain they will give their best performances in Beijing. The most important thing is that the gap behind the top athletes is not too large. As for the final standing, this will also depend on the performance of the competitors with better starting numbers. Skiing is unpredictable, it is often a roulette sport, depends on the condition of the track, the weather conditions etc.", said Kosic. Jelena Vujicic is scheduled to participate in giant slalom races on February 6th and in slalom races three days later. Similarly, Eldar Salihovic will compete in giant slalom on February 13th and in slalom event on February 16th. Finally, Aleksandar Grbovic's competition is to be held on February 11th. The opening of the Winter Olympic Games is scheduled for February 4th. Our representatives travels to Beijing on the first day of the next month, and the condition for the performance is two negative tests for coronavirus taken 72 and 48 hours prior to the trip.
