Young Montenegrin Alpine skiers, Jakša Kosić from Nikšić and Mladen Minić from Kolašin are leaving for Polish town Slask Beskidi on 13th February where will be held winter EYOF (European Youth Winter Festival), from 15-20. February.
They are representatives of Montenegro in this event organized under patronage of European Olympic Committee.
Both of them and their coach Pavle Kasom were welcomed by president of Montenegrin Olympic Committee, Dušan Simonović on 11th February, who wished them lots of luck at this big competition. On that occasion, they received adequate equipment in the headquarters of MOC.
Young girls and boys from 49 countries, aged between 15 and 18 will compete in nine winter Olympic sports: ice hockey, figure skating, Alpine skiing, cross country, ski jumps, curling, biathlon, snowboarding and Nordic disciplines. Kosić and Minić will compete in slalom and giant slalom.
Just to remind that lots of current sport aces, such as Justine Herdin Hardenne, Anja Person, Janica and Ivica Kostelić started their international careers in EYOF.
Both editions of EYOF are organized every two years, in the year following the Olympic Games. Following summer EYOF will be held in Tampere, Finland from 18. To 25. July.
EYOF and Youth Olympic Games, starting from next year in Singapore, were idea of current president of the International Olympic Committee Jacques Rogge in 1991. While being president of Olympic Committee of Belgium.
