KOTOR ALWAYS GAVE MOST OLYMIANS AND IT IS THE CASE THIS YEAR WHEN MONTENGRO PARTICIPATES FOR THE FIRST TIME INDEPENDENTLY AT THE OLYMPIC GAMES – SAID MIRKO VIČEVIĆ, ADDRESSING YOUNG PEOPLE NOT TO GIVE UP OLYMPIC MOTO „FASTER, HIGHER, STRONGER!“
Olympic caravan in the city of Olympians
Yesterday, Olympic caravan Beijing 2008, sport-amusing event organized in honor of forthcomming Olympic Games by Montenegrin Olympic Committe and Athletic Federation of Montenegro qand host municipalities, visited Kotor.
Mirko Vičević, well reputed water-polo player and winner of golden Olympic medal in Seul 1998. opened this event on city waterfront. This Montenegrin athlete expressed pleasure for great interest and presence of young athletes among whom there will certainly be future Olympians to continue great sport tradition of this ancient city.
„Kotor always gave most Olympians, so it is the case this year, when Montenegro participates at the Olympic Games independently for the first time“, said Vičević, calling young pepople not to give up Olympic moto: „Faster, stronger, higher“.
Football player of „Bokelj” and youth Montenegrin national team, Nikola Bogdanović, is assured that Montenegrin Olympians will got to the Olympic Games knowing that whole Montenegro supports them. Reminding that Montenegro gave lots of world famous athletes, Bogdanović stressed that he expects great news in August and brightest medals from water-polo players.
Participants of the caravan were greeted by goalkeepers of water polo club „Primorac” and national water polo team Zdravko Radić, and on behalf of the city, vice president of Municipality of Kotor , Željko Avramović.
Many elementary school pupils gathered yesterday in Kotor on city waterfront to run for medals guaranteeing first three places, and placement among first ten which enables them to participate at closing event of the Olympic caravan in mid July in Podgorica.
In boys and girls races participates pupils from elementary schools in Tivat and Kotor.
First three places in boys’ category won Miladin Dedović, Milan Radočaj and Milo Maraš, al from ES “Savo Ilić” from Dobrota.
Among girls, fastest was Nikoleta Franović (ES „Njegoš”), followed by Sara Bešković and Rada Bašić, both from ES „Drago Milović” from Tivat.
In amusing part of the program sang Montenegrin singer Stefan Filipović.
Today, Olympic caravan will visit Herceg Novi .
On behalf of Montenegrin Olympic Committe, present will be greeted by Boro Mračević, member of Executive Committee of the MOC, and Zoran Mustur, our well reputed water polo player will wish luck at the Olympic Games in Beijing to present successors of great water polo school from Boka.
On behalf of municipality, present will address Radovan Božović, secretary of Secretariat for social activities within municipality of Herceg Novi.
Also, it is expected presence of Herceg Novi citizens, members of our national water polo team.
Stefan Filipović will sing for present guests.
