President of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, Dušan Simonović travelled yesterday to Acapulco where he will be participating in the work of 17th General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees. Besides the General Assembly, in this famous Mexican resort will be also organized Assembly of the Association of Small States of Europe, whose member is President Simonović, first World Olympic Sport Convention and joint meeting of the Executive board of IOC and representatives from National Olympic Committees.
– Previous General Assembly of ANOC was held from 7th to 9th April 2008. In Beijing, and this 17th in a row will be electoral and we will elect the President and Secretary General as well as the Executive Board of ANOC for the next four years, said Dušan Simonović before he travelled to Mexico. Reports from previous Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, reports about preparations for the forthcoming Olympic Games in London 2012, WOG in Socci 2014 and OG in Rio de Janeiro 2016 will be presented at the Assembly. We will also discuss other current issues such as sport autonomy, fight against doping in sport, Olympic education, marketing and similar topics. French Annecy, Munich and Korean Pyeongchang will have presentations of their candidatures for the Winter Olympic Games 2018. Work of the General Assembly is planned for 20-22 October, on 23rd will be held first World Olympic Sport Convention whose aim is join analysis of NOCs and Governments and ways for fastening and improving mutual cooperation with aim to enhance sport. At the meeting should be present representatives from National Olympic Committees and Governments, i.e. Ministries of Sport from all countries. On the last day, 24th October will be held joint meeting of the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee and representatives from NOCs, said Dušan Simonović, President of MOC.
