After the first athletic competitions on the European Games in Baku, which is also a team competition of the Old continent's third division, Montenegro is in 10th place among 14 countries with 125 points.
– We regret the 10 points that we could have taken, but I can't really say that the athletes did anything wrong. They achieved good results and even broke two national records. We won 125 points, which is 5.5 points lower than Malta which is in 9th. I'm hoping we will gather enough strength to reach 9th, and in some set of circumstances we could be even 8th; however, we had some problems and injuries, so I can be pleased – said Coach Osman Erovic.
Kristina Rakocevic has broken the national record in Discus throw. She managed to throw a 53.91m, which is longer than her previous best throw by 57cm.
– I am pleased with the result and glad that I confirmed by good shape. I thought that I had six rather than four throws so I relaxed a little bit, thinking I will be better in the last two series – said Rakocevic.
Montenegrin record was broken in a 4x100m Relay as well (Rakic, Vojvodic, Cetkovic, Petricevic) and is now 41.12 seconds.
